Summer

Summer

The colourful flowers, the birds and the trees
They bring summer along with the parties
We go around licking ice cream
While the little kids run on the beach and scream
On Christmas day the presents come
And we also have lots of fun
At the end of the season all the more reason to look forward to the freezing winter

Farmskills

This week we had a fun afternoon. The whole school took part in a farm skills day. We had to decide what each person in our team was going to do.

We had to hammer in a nail, put on overall and gumboots, throw a gumboot in a container, get water out of a calfeteria and set up an electric fence.

it was loads of fun. Kowhai won, this was the first time they had won anything in ages!

Clean up Week recounts

Clean Up Week

Putting on bright high-visibility fluorescent vests and wandering out of school with all of Room 4 following behind me.
It was 9.00 and Room 4 had been geared up with gloves on and one plastic bag between two students.
We all cleaned the car park and up and down the roadsides. The girls thought the debris around Te Waotu was disgusting, but some boys used it as an advantage to tease the boys.
We walked and talked as we searched for litter. Time flew by and finally the gross debris discovering Friday morning was over.
“Yeah:, said some of the girls.

Clean up week

Glove on, bag in hand, time to clean up the place.
Last week was Clean Up Week and the whole school went out to clean up Te Waotu district.
Room 4 went to clean up the roadside. We picked up lots of rubbish and I mean lots. We picked up pants, road signs, glass and spare wheel covers.
We slowly walked down towards the lake and then towards the recycling bins, searching for and discovering smelly rubbish.
When we got back to school we washed our hands and had lunch.
What a morning!

Peter and the Wolf puppet show

Once there was a young boy named Peter who lived with his Grandfather near a forest. Peter’s grandfather told him never to go into the forest, but he never listened to his grandfather. Peter wasn’t afraid of the wolf so despite his grandfather’s warnings he went and played with is duck and bird friends in the forest.
Suddenly the wolf came out and he was trying to eat the bird while Peter was climbing the tree with some rope. Peter threw the rope over the wolf’s tail and waited. The wolf finally realised what had happened and started thrashing and jumping wildly. Eventually the wolf passed out. Some hunters came and started arguing and hitting each other. They saw the wolf and tied him to a stick and carried him off. The wolf had eaten the white duck earlier on.
As Peter walked inside with a huge grin on his face his grandfather was muttering to himself. Meanwhile a surgeon was almost passing out by the wolf’s bad breath when he heard a duck quacking. So removing all the duck’s feathers from the wolf’s mouth, the doctor pulled out the duck and returned him home safely.
